Yea, the games on the Wii are pretty terrible and can only be enjoyed by the under 10 crowd.

Though I am partial to the baseball game it comes with!

I have a friend who bought it a while back. He absolutely loves the damn thing. He is about my age btw!

A couple of months ago he was telling me about it, and how we should try it at some point. So finally I went over there (he lives rather far away), and we tried three games. The tennis game, the boxing game, and some sort of shooting game where you shot a gun at the screen.

Wow... now I love tennis, I used to enjoy sparring in my youth, and since I am a cs player it goes without saying I love shooting at things. The tennis game was... utter rubbish. Sure you moved your hand, just nothing like in tennis. And the XP system is total crap imo, its just a way to compensate for not having a good playing system.

The boxing game was the most fun, but it had serious issues with distance. The shooting game was the worst. The cursor lagged behind the gun like crazy. Can you imagine if that happened to a serious gamer in cs? He would chuck that game out the window before it had barely come out of the box. Yet to the wii crowd that is somehow acceptable lol. Different priorities in life I suppose :D

Well thats my wii review haha. I will ask him to try the baseball game next time and see what thats like (assuming it comes with a European wii... we are not big on baseball here).

Have you tried the golf? It's terrible. It's the same problem as the boxing; the Wii is awful at reading when you're going forward. So when you're doing the golf swing, it rarely reads it properly and you completely shank it almost every time. It's a joke. I've hit the ball right in the middle of my back swing before!

I only had the "pleasure" of trying the three games I mentioned.

The idea behind the system has such great potential, its such a pity they screwed things up. I will give them credit for the innovation, but I cannot for the life of me understand why the system is so popular... then again I cant figure out why people use facebook applications either :D

In time that system could well lead to a whole new way of playing games, its just got a long way to go before they can cater to hardcore gamers that take the game seriously.

I like Wii- but mainly for the bowling xD

I will see if my friend happens to have it.

I didnt mean to go too hard on the system actually. I think a lot of people, with a more "normal" approach to gaming, will enjoy it (or at least many of the games).

Even though I dont have time much right now, my approach to gaming, sports and any other competition is usually in the nutcase category lol. I get completely obsessed and practice relentlessly. If the system lets me down I... lose my temper ahem... On my high school year book I was described as resembling "an angry male gorilla that just had his bananas stolen".

I would like to think I have evolved a little since, but even now things still have a tendency to break when they are near my cs game :D

What I am trying to say I guess is that, if I ever were to buy one, the wii would probably last about 5 minutes before I would ritually sacrifice it to the God of gaming.

In my opinion, the Wii is about two generations away from being able to produce a worthwhile shooter with the motion sensing technology.

Then there's the issue of Nintendo producing a worthwhile shooter in general...
