Advicenators discussion: Diet Pills

ductape_n_roses wrote Sunday August 5 2007, 1:59 am:
Have you notice how many differnt pills are for grabs at stores all for high prices, promising a solution to burn fat fast? Ever questioned what the hell you're putting in your body?!!!

Let me tell you straight out that all those pills have 99% of the SAME ingredients. The only difference is the shape, size, design of bottle, company, etc, etc. And then there's the whole "60 pills!" But when you actually red the instructions, it claims you have to take it 3 times a day...so you end up buying more after 20 days. Sure, you'll say "Well, in 20 days, I wouldn't need it because I'm already thin."

WRONG.

Diet pills manipulate your body's BMR aka metabolism. And all the "lose weight fast" thing only happens if you exercise hard and eat low calorie foods. Sure, maybe the first week you lose an incredible 8 pounds. But then what? By now, your body would've gotten used to the effect the pills bring on your body. You're metabolism won't be effected as much. Then as you swallow the pills and continue with your effort, you'll reach a point where you're weight won't budge. And you're just hungry all the freaking time. Maybe you actually did lose all the pounds you wanted to shed. So you stop the pills. And one day you step on the scale and "AHHHHHH!!!!" You've gained all those lovely pounds again. Why? By now, your metabolism is pretty much f*cked up. You've grown dependant on the pills to help you stay "healthy and thin" & you can't bring self control upon yourself single handedly.

So, how would you lose weight? Exercise with the combination of a healthy diet! *hint go read my Lose Weight topic hint*

So what I'm saying is:
Do NOT take diet pills. It's just a waste of money and a scam!

If you MUST take them, which you shouldn't have a single reason to [I mean, come on. Walking for 10min won't kill you], to get the BEST effect use it for a week, then stop for a week, then restart for a week, get my pattern? This will help slow down your body from getting accustomed to the effects. Oh, and don't over do the pills. If you have no clue what I'm saying, the pills have already screwed you over.

But really, do NOT take diet pills or any of those weight lose programs [Atkins, Weight watchers, Jenny Craig, etc]. You'll gain all your lovely fat as soon as you stop. Instead, exercise and eat a healthy diet!
