Advicenators discussion: Sending me a hijackthis log

theymos wrote Tuesday July 10 2007, 1:40 am:
This guide tells you how to send me a hijackthis log. Please send me one of these on every malware-related question you have. Hijackthis creates a logfile advanced users can use to identify and destroy malware; in the hands of an experienced user it is more valuable than an antivirus at removing malware. Download and run hijackthis:

Select "scan and make logfile". It'll open notepad with a logfile in it. Send me the textfile, or copy/paste it into an email. If you copy/paste, *make sure* your email client preserves the original formatting, and doesn't add or remove line breaks. Email: theymos@gmail.com . Other contact info in my column.

Don't remove anything in HijackThis until I tell you. If you remove all the entries it gives you, your computer will be ruined. For the log to be effective it needs to be manually reviewed.
