Advicenators discussion: Answer rated 4????!

Hey Razhie, I read that question from the man and paying for a phone for his daughter. I thought your answer was well-thought out and amazing :-) and he only rated you a 4...I thought you deserved a 5. (Just putting in my two cents)

Thanks. I'm kinda meh about the whole rating thing lately. I thought it was a rather good answer as well, but I couldn't hide the fact that I took an issue with him trying to make it the mothers job for him to stay in contact with his child.

What kind of dumbass doesn't realize that if your ex puts up roadblocks between you and your child you fight like a rabid dog until you get past them! Seriously. If talking to my child was going to cost me an extra $50 a month cause thier father was a control-freak, I would pay the $50 with a smile on my face, secure in my moral superiority AND the loving relationship with my child.

If I did have to geuss, I imagine I got a four for refusing to play the 'I'm right!' game and instead insisting on doing the 'right' thing for the child, not for the childishly behaving adults.

Hmm, I should say, after typing that, that the reason I'm being a lot more forceful here then in the question is because we never do truly know the situation of another.

I'm sure there is a lot more going on between these two parents then that question really brings to light, and $50 or so can certainly be a lot (espcailly in light of paying only $430 or so a month in child support... the father here is not a terribly wealthy man). Never the less, I think the principal still stands. You can't avoid the personal responsibilty for maintaining contact with your child, not ever.

I agree, it is a tricky situation, but, at that, I still believe that the situation was handled to the best of your abilities. Not only that, but just the fact that we are relying on only what people are typing in thier questions, makes it all the more difficult to help them. I have a new appreciation for all of the "advicenators" on here. :-)
