Feeling discouraged 24/f
I have recently relocated to another area in Texas and I guess you can say I did things backward. I had a special education teaching job but I resigned at the end of the school year for two reasons:
1) I did not think special education was the right fit for me and decided to look for a general education job. I was told by many of my colleagues they thought I was fit for early childhood to second grade.
2) I moved to a different location with my boyfriend.
I have applied to the school districts near our new apartment. I have applied for elementary, special education (even though I'm not looking for a special education), and ESL. Yet, I have only gone to ONE interview throughout the summer and they offered me a special education job even though I was interviewing for a general education job.
I recently was able to become a teacher for Sylvan Learning Center, but I calculated that if I was to be a substittute teacher and only taught nine hours a week at the center, I would only be making $1,904/month, which is barely to get by due to the bills my boyfriend and I pay for.
When I got my first teaching job last year, I got called a week before school started and I started recieving calls AFTER I accepted the job and was attending training, but I can't help but feel discouraged. Any advice? Is this normal?
