chemical pregnancy or too soon

Question Posted Tuesday January 20 2015, 1:31 am

I'm sorry in advance if this is kind of long, I want to put as much detail as possible to get the right answers. My last period started november 28,2014 and ended december 5, 2014. so i was sure that i should start my period around january 5. I have the my days app. and the last few months i start my period around the last day of my last period. and it says on the app i should have started january 8. so friday january 16, 2015 i was about a week late so i took a pregnancy test and i got a faint positive and my sister saw it so i have someone else who also saw it besides just myself. so my sister and i decided that we would go get a pregnancy verification on monday. so sunday january 18, 2015 i took a second test just to be sure again and there was still a little faint positive line. so monday january 19, 2015 (today) we went to a clinic to get the verification and i took 2 tests there because i told the lady i had got two faint lines, but now the tests were showing negative. and so she gave me a test to take home so i can retake it again tomorrow or whenever. i was googling why that would happen and there was alot of people talking about a chemical pregnancy and so i am wondering if thats what i experienced. i had a miscarriage 2 years ago. but havent been pregnant or had a child since then. my other question is should i retake it in a day or should i wait another week before i take the test in case this is just me being too early. thankyou in advance for anyone who answers this. :)

The home pregnancy test are not 100% accurate. When you receive two positives you should go and have a blood test or what back in the day was called the Rabbit test. This is the only true test for pregnancy and yes even they have been known to be false which is why most GYN's will follow up with an internal Sonogram.

If on the home pregnancy test you receive two negative test this will generally mean you are not pregnant. If you miss your next period then a visit to your GYN is required.

My advice at this time is to visit your GYN for a clinical pregnancy test and an examination by your GYN.
