What procedure could a dermatologist do to get rid of cystic acne?
Question Posted Sunday April 27 2014, 10:09 pm
I've tried creams and pills for several years and it doesn't help. I've tried all kinds of face washes, pills, lotions and gels. My acne is very bad and embarrassing. What are some other procedures and how much would it cost?
Doctors can prescribe very strong drugs that will help you treat your cystic acne. Because they are so powerful, they are not dispensed over the counter and can't be bought in your local drug store. Setting an appointment with a doctor will allow him or her to look at your acne, devise a treatment tailored to your case, and start guiding you to a acne-free existence sooner rather than later.
I know you wanted a "procedure" and I didn't really give you any. This is because there are many that a doctor can do. Such as, antibiotics, hormonal treatments *for females only*, topical retinoids, systemic (oral) retinoids, laser therapy, and probably more. It all depends on how severe your acne is & what you and your doctor would feel be best.
I would talk to a dermatologist about all of these because there will be side-effects to any or all of these procedures.
Some lifestyles that could improve your acne:
- Pay attention to your diet
- Try eating a low-glycemic diet
- Cut back on diary
- Cut down on stimulants such as alcohol and smoking (if you do either of these)
- Reduce the amount of stress that you are under
- Try to exercise more
- Get enough sleep
- Drink water [ breeeeezy88's advice column | Ask breeeeezy88 A Question ]

this soothes and kills bacteria without irritating the skin further. i have a brother in law that did it after even using that pro active stuff and it worked like a charm over time. try looking up the effects of the honey and cinnamon method online.
