I found out im pregnant but im leaving the country and have to take meds I just found out I was pregnant today. I'm leaving the country in a few days. It is a very expensive non refundable trip. I AM still going. I don't want to hear anything about that. I'll be gone for a whole month and there is malaria where I'm going so I have to take doxycycline. I will have to take it for 2 months... That's what the prescription requires. Is it going to do much damage? Im guessing I'm about 5-6 weeks along. ill be 14 weeks by the time i can stop taking them. I might be able to cut two weeks off of that but still... Will this do any damage? What kind if any? What will flying do to it?

You need to see a doctor about this. Strangers on the internet are not the people to ask about the possible effects of a medication on a pregnancy. From a quick search, I can tell you that doxycycline is designated as a risky drug to take during pregnancy and should only be taken if there is no alternative. You do need to discuss this with your doctor, though.
I get that this is an expensive, non-refundable trip, but you are talking about a person's life. If there's going to be any substantial risk, you might need to make the right decision for your baby. As a parent, you've got to drop your own needs and focus on what your child will need over the next 8 months or so. I'm not judging you, but I am asking you to make a major shift in your thinking. Vacations can be taken in the future with few regrets. You can't undo fetal damage or the guilt you would feel for knowingly being the cause of it. ]
