How do I make my puppy stop eating poop?

Question Posted Sunday March 24 2013, 5:21 pm

I have a 1 year old puppy and I've had her for nearly a year. She's eaten her poop before, but now I'm getting tired of it. I stepped in it yesterday AND today, when I came home. Why is this? And how can I stop this? She's been doing this for a few months (I thought she would stop. She did, for awhile, but it's started again). Please help me! This is disgusting!

Put her on a leash and take her out to do her business. My family takes our dog out and she started doing it so whenever she did we would just tug her away and say no. Also, pick up after her. It may be your yard and you feel like you don't mind her pooping in it but its still there and anyone can step on it. It would be helpful if she knows the meaning of no too. also if theres any word that you use in place of "no" feel free to use it.
