Unfortunately, I don't know why you would want a nickname for Gabe. It's pretty much one syllable. Two if you go for GAY-BUH, but it's really a stretch.
If his name was Gabriel, it would be easier. You should shorten it to "Gabe" or "Rie" or "Rye".
But there is no point in giving a nickname to someone who already has a short name. That is unless you want it to be for a reason other than being short i.e. a personal nickname, in which situation, you should think of it, as it's personal. [ orphans's advice column | Ask orphans A Question ]
