I might be falling in love with my best friend...

Question Posted Sunday May 20 2012, 5:12 pm

Well, I'm a 17 year old boy who lives in Nevada City and basically I met this girl a year ago and I really liked her, so I decided to ask her out. Sadly, she turned me down since she didn't know me that well and she avoided me for a while. Finally, we made amends and we both agreed that we should start over as friends, and as a result we became really close and really good best friends. There has always been a small part of me that keeps wishing that we could date someday but I have been able to shun that part of my brain out...until recently when I have realized how similar we are and how perfect we are together. I don't want to tell her how I feel at the risk of losing one of the best relationships I've had in a long time, but I don't think it's healthy for me to bottle up all my feeling inside... What should I do?

I always believed that it wasn't healthy to "hold in" your feelings. I believe if you like someone, you should tell them. But as you stated, there could be that possibility that she may react the same way again. Perhaps talk to her, and state, that even if she doesn't feel the same way as you do for her, you would still enjoy to continue being friends. If it doesn't work out, do remember, there are many other girls out there who may make you feel the same way as she did.
