Warning: This will be lengthy and filled with detail that might not matter. I'm just trying to give as much detail as possible that could help somebody help me with the issue.
I've have the Sims 3 every since it first came out. I didn't have any problems with it until a few months ago. I have multiple expansion/stuff packs (Which I won't uninstall) and CC (Custom Content) that I've downloaded (Which I also won't uninstall)
I also have deleted every piece of CC that was buggy.
Few computer details: My monitor is a few years old (Between 06-08) but the computer itself I just got last Summer after my old one crashed. It's been acting a bit funny (Sometimes I get a black screen on start-up and I have to restart it a few times to work) and sometimes I notice subtle moving zig-zag lines on my screen.
Anyway, my game has been EXTREMELY slow. It's always been a bit laggy but it's gotten to the point when it took me seriously (And I'm NOT exaggerating) 6 hours just to create a 5 person family when normally it takes me like an hour to load stuff decide what I want. It's also very laggy during gameplay and basically impossible to play, which is upsetting.
Is there something I can do to fix this without uninstalling anything? Something in my computer I can replace? What is it, how much does it cost? (I've uninstalled and re-installed all my games multiple times already, please don't suggest this as it does not work)
I'm 17 and I plan to run all this by my dad once I have the information. If I don't have information when I go to him he'll just shrug it off as nothing. So please provide as much as possible, thank you!
- see if you can delete any sort of "junk" you have on your computer. any old games you have that you don't use anymore (or if it's a shared computer that no one else uses as well) or any applications you don't use that take up a lot of room. Or old photos or videos (you could get a external drive to keep them on if you didn't want to delete them) the less stuff on a computer, the more free memory it has and it runs faster. (or in my experience it does)
- Keep software updated (not sure what type of computer you have, I have a mac, but I'm sure PC has some kind of software updates for computer hardware and all that as well)
- on your sims game, go to the options and there are some graphics quality options you can turn down which can improve game speed and all that. (there are a few of them, not just the one I never want to turn down which is like the quality of the sim or something like that, I don't quite remember what exactly it's called)
and obviously any CC that isn't from the store and from an outside source will probably slow down the game.. I've suffered without it, but I do have tons of stuff from the store.
So, my issues with my sims game after installing showtime was it was slow, and also it would quit more often on me or freeze or just mess up completely. (I have every EP/SP except one SP & have tons of store CC). I was in.. that hidden spring neighborhood that I got from the store. And I basically.. had to re start because my game saved in a glitchy spot, and when I went to restart it it wouldn't let me do anything. but ANYWAYS I started over in a different neighborhood (the apoolosia one or whatever it's called) and my game ran SO much faster. I'm not sure if maybe there was a glitch with that saved game which made it run terribly. or if this will even help you at all, but I figured I'd share what happened to me with you so you can see if maybe it can help you at any little bit.
Also, there are probably computer things you can upgrade but you didn't mention what type of computer you have MAC vs Windows.. Dell.. Sony.. all that stuff so if you were to provide that info you may get better answers with more detailed responses on what you could possibly buy to upgrade your computer :D
