It's not uncommon for your very first period to last only for a day. When you first start to have periods, they may not be very regular. Your body will take time to settle into a regular cycle - this might take 2 years or more. Relax, this is normal.
You may find thy you skip a period or don't have another one for a long time after you have had your first period. You also may find that it on lasts a few days or it is longer. This is your period being irregular. Don't worry, like I said it can be like this for a long time and it's perfectly normal. ]
Many people that are in a highly demanding sport only get one period until they retire from thier sport because so much exersice can stop periods. Also, stress can stop it but hopefully you don't stress that much! If you don't do a sport that is highlt demanding then I'm not sure what it could be. But even if your period doesn't come back for a long while you can still get pregnant so don't have sex until your old enough. Hope I helped! ]
