Hi, 24/f.
Just wondering if anyone has any ideas for home remedies/solutions for this issue: I grind my teeth.
Of course, I can't be like normal people and just wear a bite splint to bed to fix it, because I grind my teeth during the day. I'm often aware of myself doing it, and if I catch myself I stop for awhile, but I don't know how to get rid of this habit.
When I was little I used to grind/clench my teeth to the song I had stuck in my head to stop myself from humming out loud because I got picked on for singing. (I'm a singer, I grew up surrounded by music, so there's always something playing in my mind. Using real music instead doesn't help.)
I've tried chewing gum to keep my teeth apart, but that hurts my jaw after awhile - I have jaw tension issues (TMJ problems run in my family)... I'm about to finish my second university degree and am admittedly very stressed, but the grinding doesn't seem to change no matter what my stress level is.
Any thoughts, other than hypnosis, gum, or cognitive behavioral therapy? Lol.
Thanks in advance.
