Rena-Chan answered Tuesday January 24 2012, 11:59 am: In general, parental permission is not needed for prescription methods of birth control like the pill. However, there may be certain locations where, for one reason or another, a health care provider will require parental permission. Check with your provider about her or his policy. Though there is typically NO age requirement, and no need for adult consent at Planned Parenthood. I would still call the local Planned Parenthood nearest you and speak with someone there, addressing your questions and possible concerns.
Birth control pills may be purchased with a prescription at a drugstore or clinic. They cost about $15–$50 a month. If you are low on income, ask if they have generic birth control pills, and have that filled at the Wal-Mart pharmacy, as generics there can range from 4-9 dollars.
