I know for sure i have scoliosis, its really obvious and i just want to be normal like i used to be. im only 17 and my dad hasnt noticed and i dont know how to tell him "hey dad, i need to go to the doctor and possible have a very expensive surgery because i have scoliosis" -_- The curvature isn't too bad, but i can't wear normal t-shirts or anything because my right side of my back sticks out way further. Also my left rib, in the front sticks out a little and doesnt feel right like the other front one does, does that have something to do with the scoliosis? I don't have a regular doctor, so i don't know if that effects it. and my dad hasnt ever taken me to the doctor, so i haven't been since i was like 11.. I'm just scared. and i wish i could make it better without all the difficulties. we dont have the money for this and i dont have the emotional strength.

They will be able to look for signs of scoliosis and diagnose you properly. Also, they might be able to help with financial support. The longer you go without getting it looked at the more opportunity it has to worsen. Talk to your dad. Explain to him what's going on. If he won't take you, then go see your school nurse. I know that my school nurse a few years ago was required to check all the students for signs of scoliosis. If anything unusual was noticed, it was required that the student was to go to the doctor to get it looked at. Financially, you could probably get help with that. In this case, the doctors know best and can help you the most that they can. I know you're scared. I felt the same way when I started to notice something weird with my back. The nurse referred me to a doctor who told me that I did have a little scoliosis, but also told me that I had nothing to worry about unless it worsened. I promise it will help to see a doctor. I hope this helped and good luck with everything :) [ mannequin24's advice column | Ask mannequin24 A Question ]
