You can't always know if your in a real relationship. There are some ways to know if your in a fake relationship though.
-They shouldn't be scared to tell their friends your dating, or hold hands in public.
-You should be able to really talk to them. They should know your secrets, what your scared of.
^^You should be able to trust them with these secrets. To know that they won't tell anyone else and they should also share their secrets to. Relationships work with a give-a-little-take-a-little kinda way.
You also kind of have to hope. Things could be going great and suddenly go wrong. It could seem like there is no hope and suddenly be the best tiem of your life.
