Corset Training

Question Posted Monday June 13 2011, 9:20 am

Here's a little background information:

I'm 15yr old female, and I want to start corset training.
The problem is, I've never worn a corset before, and I'm not sure how a corset will affect my still-growing body. I know how painful they are, so no need to remind me. ;D I'm also well aware of the probability of health issues and lifestyle changes that come along with corset training. However, I'm in good shape, and I take care of myself. I do have a couple of questions, though.

1. I do a lot of singing. This requires a fair bit of control over my breathing. I know that a corset will constrict my ribcage, but I need to know if I will still be able to do it. If not I suppose I could always take it off during practice and performances.

2. Does the material or strings need special attention in the wash?

3. How will it affect my inner organs and bone structure?

4. If I can't start now, when is a good time to begin?

5. Considering the fact that there are about a million health issues related to corsets, I suppose I wouldn't be able to buy one at a lingerie shop or something because of my age. I'm in New Zealand. Would they have that kind of reaction to someone so young?

NOTE: I'm not tryig to make myself ultra-uber-unhealthy skinny. I've just really loved corsets and lace and things like that since I was really young (I know that sounds wierd). I know when enough is enough, and even if I go overboard, I have very watchful friends and family who will say no.

Any advice would be really helpful, especially from corset-wearers. :D Thankies.

I'm not a dedicated corset-wearer, although I do wear them from time to time, and have a collection of them.

Here are my suggestions:

Romantsy has a step-by-step 3-month Waist-Training Plan that you can purchase from their site:

Also, check out CorsetHeaven's short guide to waist training: [Link](Mouse over link to see full location)

And this article from StayLace: [Link](Mouse over link to see full location)

Good luck!
