Hey, this is what i did to overcome my stage fright when i dance on stage;
Most people say imagine the audiance nude-this of course doesn't help if you can't even see them-so i wouldn't follow this advice.

Don't see it as a make or break kinda thing-see it as just a small job you've got to accomplish. Like when you do an exam. Just do what you gotta do, and move on.

Also, imagine your just singing in front of your mirror with your ipod on or infront of your family. Don't constantly stare at the audiance-the could distract you.

Finally, there are numerous breathing activities you can do to calm you down. Take deep breaths as this limits the oxygen going to your brain so your not as alert. Also, with two fingers lightly tap your pulse point on the inward part of your wrist. For some reason this really works!

Just remember this: People look at you on stage not because you look alien or they're shocked, it's because they think you're actually quite good. Otherwise they'd look down with embarrasment :)

Hey,

I can see where you're coming from. There will be that slight fear at the start of any performance on stage in front of people - even professional musicians will tell you that sometimes. I like to think it's because you're placed on a higher level than everyone else (stage), the spotlight is on YOU and all eyes are on YOU - therefore, the rush starts and your mind immediately goes there and you start to realize all that instead of doing your performance. What I always did was to think that I owned that stage - to look into people's eyes sitting in the audience and play my guitar/sing/move. It's your superstar moment for a certain amount of time so keep in mind to have a great time with it. Those people are there to listen to you and have a good time, so give them the best time of their lives and sing your heart out because that's what you love to do. Eye contact - smile - move. =)
