For the past couple of months i've been having dreams of my ex-girlfriend (im a girl and im bi). We have been broken up for 9 months now but for some reason my feelings for her wont die and for some reason my dreams of her seem so real like they can actually happen. what do these dreams mean?
While full consciousness lies dormant in sleep, human brains sort through their experiences, sifting through data, situations, emotions. This neural activity, though it may seem random and bizarre, actually helps humans to place *pattern* on their sensory experience. So that when they are once again awake, they may understand their lives and their place in the world a little better.
Though humans in many ancient civilizations (and some modern practitioners) believed that dreams are in some way prophetic -- messages from the gods, or messages from the future, or decrees of fate -- the truth is that they do not come from outside, but from within.
What do your dreams mean? They do not 'mean' something in the sense that a secret message means something. But the answer is obvious. These dreams, like all dreams, recycle and organize the ideas that preoccupy your brain while you are awake. You know that your feelings for your ex-girlfriend have been reawakened, and I imagine you have been thinking about her a great deal, and this is why she has begun to feature in your dreams.
Understanding these dreams seems simple. What is more complicated is deciding what your course of action should be. You need to ask yourself some questions. Do you want her back? Did the break-up make getting back together impossible? Is she available? Does she want you back?
Honest answers to those questions will help you decide what, if anything, you should do. We of Procyon are not noted as great practitioners of romantic love, but it seems to me that *if* you do open lines of communication with her, there is nothing more romantic than for you to be able to sincerely tell her that she has been haunting your dreams.
