How long does codeine withdrawal last? It was prescribed to me for a respiratory infection I had a few months ago, then I started using recreationally two weeks ago. I finished the bottle last night and I'm now experiencing minor cravings for it.
How long will my cravings last for, and what can I do to make them subside besides taking other substances? Thanks.
Additional info, added Tuesday May 3 2011, 5:18 am: I figured I would put some of my experience here, should anyone else with a similar problem find this question.
It was on the fourth day that I started to feel better. Days 1-3 after my last dose were very difficult. Insomnia and mild body aches were tolerable, but the cravings for more were unbearable. I say unbearable because if I had any codeine left, I would have absolutely broken and ended up taking it. Day four was actually substantially better... now I'm just coming out of this haze.
Advice: do not ever take opiates recreationally. I originally started to take it again in order to sleep better at night. Before I even realized it, I started taking it just to take it. It's seriously a slippery slope, and you're too numbed out to even notice. . Want to answer more questions in the Health & Fitness category? Maybe give some free advice about: Health? AskTaylor14 answered Saturday April 30 2011, 4:37 pm: Well since your starting to get cravings for it this means that your getting addicted,
when this happens it means that when the cravings started you weren't sick anymore and when you kept taking it your body started making the medicine a natural flow through the body.
Since its for Respiratory I would stop taking it because it could do some serious damage to your whole respiratory system....
