Why when you get new plugs for your mp3 it sounds shorted out

I got new plugs for my mp3 the plugs work but somehow the mp3 sounds shorted out,unless I hold the plugs someway, what is wrong with it? SOS!! :(

Sounds like you got some bad earbuds. Take them back and exchange them for a working set. You should also stop using them until you get new headphones... that wire shorting out can damage your mp3 player/iPod beyond repair.
