Media Disconnected?

Question Posted Thursday February 3 2011, 8:25 pm

Hi I'm the person who said something was wrong with their computer and it was asking for a port number and address but I think the problem is that my media state is disconnected, whatever that is. Do you know of a way I could get it connected again?
Thanks in advance! :)

Hi there,

Well, usually that error has to do with your wired or wireless network adapter. The port number issue is really strange to me. I would like to know which service is sending that error. That would help, but probably no easy way for you to find out on your end.

If it is network related, then you probably wouldn't be able to use it to write these questions since you wouldn't be able to connect to the internet. :-)

Can you tell me what, exactly, you are doing when the error comes up? Any details will help. It does this all the time? Only when you do a certain thing? It just started doing this? Did you make any changes to the computer? New hardware or software?

Anything you can tell me about this would be great. Also, please tell me which operating system you use.

If you are using Vista, please right-click on your network icon in the system tray, and click "Diagnose and repair." See what happens. If it asks you to reset the network adapter, go ahead and say yes.

Also, that screen capture I asked for would be really handy if you can manage it.
