Smelllyyyyy .

Question Posted Saturday July 24 2010, 3:56 pm

15/f. (non-virgin)

So, for a few months now.. every month after my period, I have VERY smelly discharge. I can't even wear jogging pants or comfy pants because it seeps through and everyone can smell it. Sometimes the smell even goes through my jeans. It can last anywhere from a few days to like 2 weeks. It drives me nuts! What could be causing this? And how can I stop it?

Okay this is going to sound totally weird at the end, but it works. You shower everyday right? Well make sure you use soap when you wash there, some people just use water and it doesn't help. Also, (here comes something that might be weird) don't wear underwear when you sleep.. i know this sounds totally weird, but if you let yourself air out and breathe some there, it may actually help. 16/f

This does not mean at all that you practice poor hygiene! What that smell is is the discharge coming from your body. As long as the discharge does not turn a certain color like greenish, then it is healthy. The discharge is bacteria that naturally cleans your body and protects it from other germs entering your body. As of ways to stop it, I have heard that birth control pills can reduce the production of discharge. As awkward as it may sound, your personal physician can offer other ways to get rid of it if birth control pills are not a way you want to get rid of it.
