Okay, so tomorrow i'm going to mexico
i'm flying out of innercontinental (not sure if I spelt that right) I was wandering if I would be able to pack my straightener in my purse & do airports care if you take medicine with you such as ibuprophen i'm not taking the bottle I just put some in a ziploc baggy or will they think i'm smuggling drugs & make me throw it away?
Since you will be going over the boarder, I do recommend you purchase a travel sized bottle of advil or tylenol so that they will be in a package and there won't be too much questioning of, "What are these pills in the baggie?!" You can buy a little travel sized container at places like Wal-Mart or even CVS. They will be located near the registers in most cases, and are very affordable.
It's doubtful they will think the pills are drugs but you never know. It would be awful to be delayed for hours while they figured out what exactly they were, for sure. Trust me, if they even have the slightest whim that you may be holding illegal drugs then they aren't going to just make you throw them away and be done with it. You'll be detained for hours.
If you go through a lot of the pills then buy two or three of the travel sized bottles so you won't have pills floating around in a plastic baggie when you do return to the states.
There won't be any problem with putting your straightener in your purse as long as you allow it to be scanned over. They'll, obviously, notice it's a straightener. The most they'd like to do would be open it up and double check that it isn't fake or something and that you were trying to smuggle things in it. It's highly doubtful they'll go that far though.
