so then i need to earn his trust again? and if so how do i do that?
i mean i know trust is a hard thing to earn but that was never an issue with me and him. he always trusted me.

Its not you that he doesn't trust, its himself. He distants himself from you because he doesn't want to let you completely in. You have to be his friend without pressuring him, but just hang out and have fun. If he wants to make it more, then you wait for him to make the move. If he is interested in more than friendship, he will certainly let you know. When you get to a certain point in a relationship, a guy doesn't like it when it gets to serious and they run away. But if you show that you are willing to go at his pace and not your own, then he will continue forward and not run away again.
