i'm on att. i have an upgrade in september, and i want to get the samsung impression. since i have an upgrade, will i get that phone for free? or will i have to pay money for it?

You will most likely have to pay for the phone. Being able to upgrade is just going to make the phone way cheaper. You may also get a free phone once you have paid for the phone with the upgrade.
