so i broke my right ankle (gruesome story), and now im in a wheelchair, and ive been doing quite a bit of upper body physical and occupational therapy. Now I have sever joint pain in the elbows, arm sockets, and shoulders as well as my right leg cramping up (i have been training in a walker as well)
The vicitin (if it is spelled right) can only help for so long and they are trying to ween me off.
What are some things i can do to releave pain?

TheAnnie answered Tuesday June 8 2010, 12:15 pm: Well, I did some research and the best way to relieve that pain aside from pain relievers is to simply take a bit of rest if you can. I mean that's why you are having pain, because you are putting so much strain on it that it's not used to. If you can rest and not have say move around as much that would be ideal. But seeing as you may have work or school, you might not get too much chance to stay in bed all day (plus you might not want to). Heat also provides fantasitic relief. If you can soak in a tub with a bit of rubbing alcohol and warm/hot water it will really relax your muscles. If you can get someone to massage those muscles, that'll help a lot. It'll help relewase some of the tension you've built up. ANother idea to strengthen those muscles. There are some stretches you can do to help relieve the pain. It would also be a great idea to keep your doctors on par with everything going on. I know they are takign you off the vicodin, but you can ask for some alterantive ways to relieve the pain.
