Dieting/Eating Healthier

Question Posted Tuesday March 23 2010, 2:16 pm

I use to be SUCH a healthy eater. Like, I barely ever use to eat greasy foods, only on weekends if I went out and had a burger or something. But, for the most part, even my carbs during the week were limited. I really miss how I use to feel when I ate so healthy. So, I started to put myself on a regimen, like trying to eat Lean Cuisines or portion control... but I started to feel VERY dizzy and couldn't even work out. I work out a lot and that really helps to keep me in shape. It's helped me lose some weight recently that I put on while I was taking birth control. But, I stopped and working out so much has really helped me lose the weight and feel better. But, I know I'm not eating as well as I should. I'm not saying I go to McDonald's every day, but I've just been eating crappy things that don't really have much nutritional value... like just rice by itself, and stuff like that. or mac and cheese. and I know it's not THAT bad. It's not like I've even been eating dessert.... but it's just that I get so hungry and then I eat "the comfort foods." So, I was wondering... is there any way that I can get back to eating healthier so that I can feel better? Without having to suffer so much as if I were on a really strict diet... cuz that's not really what I want. I just want to eat healthier so I can feel better and get the most out of my workout... and if I lose like 5-10 pounds in the process, then it's okay... but I'm not trying to lose like a lot of weight really fast or anything like that. all advice is appreciated.

thanks!

You need to balance your diet. Eat veggies, fruits and protein. You'll get full faster if you eat fatty foods like nuts and avacados.

The problem with the Lean Cuisines and such is that they are processed and have LOTS of sodium. This can make you gain water weight.

Eat fruit when you have a sweet tooth. Eat nuts when you're just kind of snacking. Replace things like mayo with mustard (which has no calories) and cut back on dairy. Don't eat white bread; stick to wheat or whole grain. Once you stop eating the processed foods you'll start getting fuller faster and also start feeling better.

What I'm trying to say is just make a balance. IT's okay to splurge once in a while.

Oh! One last thing... drink a lot of WATER!!! It helps you lose weight, believe it or not:) Let me know if you have any questions. I'm trying to lose weight too.
