this is sparta!?

At my school we have a battle of the classes thing and we have a theme and this year our theme is greeks vs. gladiators. and my class is gladiators. me and my friend came up with the idea of makeing shirts that say "this is sparta!" on it. but we are not sure if spartans are considered gladiators, we dont really know what gladiators are lol. well your help is very much appreciated. if our idea isnt a good one than please suggest others. thanks

Uh....Sparta is Greek, so they wouldn't be gladiators.
