It sounds like there may be a number of problems based on the information you've provided. I'm going to assume you're using Windows Media Player to rip the music from the CDs. Here are my solutions.

1) The LG Cookie only supports MP3, WMA and AAC formats, however, while researching your question; I've discovered that a large number of people are having trouble playing back WMA files on their device. So you have two options:

a.) Open Windows Media Player, press ALT then choose "tools" and now "options". From there, select the tab labeled "Rip Music". Choose "MP3" from the list of file types. This solution will require you to transfer the music from the CDs back onto the laptop again.

b.) To avoid copying all the music onto the laptop again, you may want to try an audio converter. Try the software on this page, its totally free. [Link](Mouse over link to see full location) once you have that installed, select the files you're working with. I doubt that you've tried playing an AAC file on your LG but according to their specifications, they DO in fact support it. So lets get all those files converted to AAC and then transfer them back over to the phone. : )

2.) Maybe the solution isn't in the file format but rather the way the music is going into the device. You may need to download special software before you are able to transfer recognizable music onto the device.

a)First.. On your phone, find your settings option. Or whatever is similar to that. Navigating through the options, you should find some option that will tell you the model number of your phone. Now click here. [Link](Mouse over link to see full location)
Scroll down to "USB Drivers." Locate the model of phone you have and download the drivers for it. (theres also other software on the page as well)
Once you install the latest drivers, go ahead and give the transfer another shot.

3) I hate to say this, but if you've tried my other solutions and nothings working, then you may need to return your phone or just call tech support. I really hope I was able to help.
