I own a dell laptop and when I go to the start menue and click shut down, log off, lock, restart, sleep, or hibernate nothing happens. Then to turn it off I have to click the power button everytime. But once I turn the laptop back on, it has the same time and date as the last time i was on it. Will someone please let me know how I can fix this? Thanks
1. Take out the battery, and let it sit for a good 10 minutes. then put it back in and see if that works. if that doesnt:
2. Go to start, and type in the search box "restore" there should then be a link to a system restore coming up. Click on it, and there will be some dates that you can restore to. Restore to a date before your computer was having the problem.

Next put the battery back in, turn the computer on, and then try to shut down...hopefully it will lt you. If it still doesn't work, they didn't put the shut down mode onyour harddrive so you will have to take it in where you bought it. They either will have to add it to the harddrive or give you a different computer. [ Advicelady6798's advice column | Ask Advicelady6798 A Question ]
