hey if you buy something online like access to a website (online membership) can they trace it to the computer it was purchased on from their computers without going through the actual computer or will it just go to the modem if you have a home network?
However, if they were *really* interested, there are a number of ways they could find out. For example, the version of your browser (Internet Explorer 8.0, Firefox 3.5.3, etc.) and all of its plugins (Java 1.6.0_15-b03, Flash 11.5.1r601, etc.) will be available to them, and if only one of your computers has that specific combination of versions, it will be obvious who made the purchase. You shouldn't have to worry about this unless you're doing something very illegal, though. Ask me another question if you want details on these methods.
