Letters of Recommendation

Question Posted Monday August 24 2009, 12:45 am

Hello! Before school let out, I asked several teachers for letters of recommendation for college applications and scholarships, and just for in general.

I said I would give them all the entire summer to do them, which I thought was really fair.

Anyway, my "problem" is, what is the best way to politely remind them that I asked them for a letter, and that I would like to have it on the first day of school [September 8th]?

Should I send an email? I was thinking of sending emails out this week since it's registration this week, and I figure they are starting to get back in "school mode". Is that fair? Or should I wait until next week?

Thanks you! =]

Next week you should mention it by also saying it's cool if they haven't done it yet, just let you know as soon as possible when they're ready with it. It wasn't really necessary to shunt work onto your teachers over summer, you still have plenty of time to get the letters done. If they do have the letters, you should apologize for giving them extra stuff to do over summer.
