least likely to get pregnant...

Question Posted Tuesday August 18 2009, 4:33 pm

So my boyfriend and I are pretty serious, he keeps asking me to have sex. It would be both of our first times, but the only reason I keep saying no is because I am so paranoid of getting pregnant at the age of 16. I really want to because my boyfriend is so special to me, so I dont feel like hearing that I am too young, I'm mature. The thing is, my brother and his girlfriend had a highschool pregnancy, and birth control is not an option at all. So I would obviously use a condom, but what i want to know is when are you least likely to get pregnant on your cycle? I heard after you period just finishes, but I would feel better if I knew that I had a lesser risk at a certain time and just do it then. I apologize for it being so long!

No matter when you have sex, on or off your period, just starting or just ending, you can get pregnant.

You may be least likely to get pregnant at a certain time, but in all honesty, ANY time you have sex you can get pregnant, so it won't matter. You can always be the 2% or whatever exception. Just remember that.

The first advicinator is correct. You are LEAST likely to get pregnant if you are on your period when you have sex. You say birth control is not an option, but you are 16 and you are of age in most states to go to Planned Parenthood and receive birth control. Sometimes at no cost to you. Of course you have to be secretive about taking it. You sound like a responsible young girl. Please wait until you have been able to take double precautions. Like birth control and condoms. You will be glad that you waited, even if it is another 6 months or so. Have you both considered other types of intimacy that don't involve intercourse?
Good luck to both of you.

The BEST time of month where you are least likely to get pregnant is when you're on your period. Which can be pretty icky in many cases! Anyway, I say this because the uterine lining will be shedding or shed and will make it difficult (but not impossible!) for an embryo to implant. Second best would be after your period. If you really don't want to have a child, it is best to not only use a condom but also spermicidal lube. :) Make sure it's spermicidal lube and not a spermicidal condom because to be honest, they don't work. Hope I helped! :)
