Romaine lettuce was recalled...do I throw it away?
Question Posted Wednesday July 22 2009, 4:12 pm
The news was saying that some Romaine lettuce was recalled recently. Well, I had JUST bought a bag of it (Romaine lettuce) like the day before yesterday from the supermarket so I could have salads. I'm nervous because I don't want to get salmonella and be sick...I get sick really easily. Should I throw the lettuce away or is it safe to eat? If I wash the lettuce really good, will it be safe? Should I take it back to the store I purchased it from? I'm just not sure what to do...
littlemisschatterbox answered Wednesday July 22 2009, 7:44 pm: It depends on which brand was recalled. If it was the same brand as the one you bought, you could either throw it out or try to return/exchange it (I'm not sure how that works), but I would definitely NOT eat it. Even if you wash it "really good," chances are that you won't rinse away the germs. [ littlemisschatterbox's advice column | Ask littlemisschatterbox A Question ]
