why do some stores when they sell clothes, they use a permanent marker to cross out the brandname? usually these stores are not the original sellers of the brand, is that why?

LM answered Wednesday July 15 2009, 11:25 pm: Actually, stores like Marshalls, TJMaxx, etc, they get clothes from other retailers for many reasons: damages, defects, last season, overstock. Typically a line is drawn so that you know it's not brand new, and the company sometimes does it right after it's made. I saw Abercrombie jeans with a stamp on the label there once. It said defective or damaged, i don't remember.
It's not a big deal. The clothes are still okay to wear and everything.
