Question Posted Sunday June 28 2009, 3:46 pm
i have a mac. so my internet is safari. and when i try to listen to music on myspace it says i need to install adobe flashplayer onto my computer. but whenever i try to download it, it "fails" and wont install or anything. help?
Sometimes installing Adobe Flash Player on a Mac can be a problem. Usually the installation problems begin when the Adobe Flash Player website sends you to the wrong installer. :-(
Obviously the Apple Macintosh isn't going to like installing the Microsoft Windows version of the Flash player, but the webiste sometimes seems to send you there anyway.
Here is where you should go to download/install the Apple Mac version of the Adobe Flash Player:
... you will clearly see the Mac version listed. It works for the following:
Mac OS X with any of the following web browsers:
Safari, Mozilla Firefox and Opera.
If it will not let you install from here, then there is a more serious problem. This is where the Mac's simplicity causes problems: When things go badly, it is usually harder to fix, at least in my experience with Apple Macintosh over the years.
Thanksfully, Adobe made a tool to help you fix a corrupt installation: A full uninstaller! This will rip out all traces (it is supposed to anyway) of the Abobe Flaxh Player from Mac OSX.
You can find that on the same page, right under the Mac OSX installer.
Happy Mac'ing!
EDIT as per your feedback: You will have to contact support. These are all the steps that should work. If you completed them all, and it still doesn't work... something is very wrong. You might also try installing a better browser, such as FireFox or Opera and see if you still have problems. [ DangerNerd's advice column | Ask DangerNerd A Question ]
