i just got the wii, and i was wondering, how come the first controller we set up to make first player is permanently first player, even after i turn the wii off and then turn it on again, i cant use any other controller. but in multiplayer mode i can use both.

The Wii remote that you first use with your system is automatically set as the default. If you'd like to change the default remote follow these steps while the system is on.

1) Press the home button
2) Go to Wii Remote Settings
3) Click on "reconnect" and follow the instructions

That should work for you.
