I know you are in the medical field or were at some point. I figured I would ask your advice on this. On July 10-12th I'm going to a three day racing event from 8 a.m. until 6 p.m. each day when the track goes dark.
I'll be out in the sun the whole time but there is one large building there with air conditioning and exhibits when there's breaks in the action. I'm on lithium, seroquel, lamictal for bipolar and have to stay hydrated the whole time with water.
They haven't made it easy this year as in years past I could bring in as much bottled water as I could stuff into a soft-sided cooler that goes under my seat. The new promoters have banned coolers all around and anything from outside the facility which is a temporary street course.
I don't want to spend a bloody fortune on small tiny bottles of water to keep safe. I want to be safe but not drain a lot out of my limited funds. Any idea how to play it safe while down there? The only water I want is the HUGE bottles but they might not have that.
Sunburn is also something that cannot happen for the same reasons as above. Beside sunscreen and a sensible shirt there's not much I can do as I'm sitting in the grandstand with no canopy above me. I have to be cool and constantly slugging back fluids other than alcohol.

If its affordable for you, go to walmart and get one of those very large straw looking bags. They remind me of knitting bags. They are with the purses and backpacks (which might be another solution). Carry in your water in it. The water may not keep cold (could try freezing it and/or wrapping it in foil) but it will keep you hydrated.
I doubt they are going to inspect your bag. They have started that around here at our car racing track. Main reason is (according to them)trash & broken glass from peoples containers.
If you drive bringing a cooler and leaving it in your car is also an option. Not one I like though because it means walking back and forth to the car.
Then, I would invest in a big floppy straw hat or an umbrellas to shade your head. That, along with your sun screen will hopefully keep you from burning.
I'd also put in a call to the organization holding the event & complain. :) ]
