Pay attention to their percentage, if it is between 96-100% then it is safe to buy with a credit card. If it turns out that you don't recieve your merchandise they will give your money back because they can track the item. Ebay is really reliable so far for me, its the percentage of the people you have to watch for. Also pay attention to the condition of the computer, if it is used like new then it should be alright. Read the description and make sure there is nothing wrong with it. I wouldn't waste my money on a new one if you can buy one that is like new.

Two quick things about buying on eBay, especially with expensive electronics. If you're planning to buy a computer off of eBay, you want to make sure that the price of the computer that you buy is similiar to the prices of others of that model that you'll find on eBay. So if you're looking to buy a Mac laptop and you find one that costs $500 dollars, while the rest of them cost around $1000 dollars, it's probably not a good deal. If you stick to common prices as opposed to the ones on the ends of the price spectrum, you're less likely to get ripped off.

Secondly, make sure that you buy from somebody with a good seller rating, preferably with a number of positive ratings in the thousands. This is eBay's fail-safe system: if a seller cheats enough people out of their money, he'll have a low rating and he'll get banned. It's best to go with sellers who are well-reviewed. Another great option is to go with eBay "stores" (you'll know them when you see them, they often have several different items for sale). Again, make sure that you check their ratings.

No problem with buying off of eBay as long as you follow those basic rules. Good luck.
