My friend and I are both 13, soon to be 14, going into 8th grade. The summer of eighth or ninth grade we want to go on a trip with Travel for Teens. The trip is 4,000 though, so we need to figure out a way to make money. We were thinking we might be able to have a fundraiser because the trip includes building playgrounds and helping the people of poor villages in south africa. any ideas?

You guys could start out something small such as carwashes and baking sales, however you are not going to get $4,000 just by selling cookies. The easiest way I find whenever I do fundraisers is by going to a big neighborhood (usually townhouses), and knock on each door and ask them to donate at least $2. I did this couple years ago and nearly got $500 a day. You could also ask people to donate things that they don't use or need anymore and sell them.
