Personally, I think that this law is accurate because while you can absolutely be in love at a younger age than 18, I dont know if I believe that people under the age of 18 fully understand what is involved in a marriage. It takes alot of maturity and communication, as well as love. I am 21 years old myself and I dont think I even have the skills required for a happy and successful marriage yet. But of course, it depends on the people and the situation.
mariahwannabe answered Tuesday May 19 2009, 1:21 pm: In my opinion, there is no set age for when you get married.
Obviously I believe you should finacially stable otherwise how can you afford a wedding, and then afford to look after eachother after?
I think you should get married when your mature enough to make sacrafices for eachother. As long as you've been together enough to know eachother well, you are confortable and have plenty of memories and experiences to share, that's when you should be ready to get married.
I believe the younger you are, the less likley you are to understand the bigger sacrafices and problems and challenges that come along because you've grown up too quickly and would be dealing with issues that too hard to handle because you'd be emotionally immature.
That's just my view. I'm nearly 16, I'm the same age as you, so obviously I can't really speak from experience haha.
Anyway,
I hope you gain more perspectives than one,
good luck to the future with your boyfriend
