I recently was diagnosed with sleep apnea and was put on a BiPap Machine to help correct it. I've had it for about 2 months now and I still can't sleep through the night with it on my face. At first, I had trouble adjusting to having the mask on my face and getting to sleep with it on. Now I have no problems falling asleep with it, the only problem is I wake up in the middle of the night (for whatever reason, usually to go pee) and it is not on my face anymore. The machine can't do it's job properly if I take it off. I never remember taking the mask off my face but somehow it's right back on my nightstand, like I never put it on. But I KNOW I fall asleep with it on. I don't know WHEN I take it off, just that when I wake up, its off my face. How can I keep myself from taking the mask off in the middle of the night?
Anyways, down to business. This is a big problem since I can't remember when I take it off either. It's very annoying!
I honestly haven't found a solution to this...I mean sometimes it's just being determined to do it. Either that, or when you take it off, there should be an alarm setting that you can switch on.
This alarm will go off if it senses that the machine is not on your face for more than 1-2 minutes (Be sure not to turn it off, though...or else it won't work).
I don't know if all Apnea machines have it though, so check with your Specialist. He/she should know.
