yeast infection?

Question Posted Sunday March 8 2009, 4:45 pm

this may be gross but i've been having really bad itching around my vagina. it's not constant, but it happens every few days. there is also a lot of discharge, but it's clear without any lumps in it or anything. would this be a yeast infection? if so, what do i need to do to treat it or the symptoms? i have a handheld shower head at home and i make sure to wash down there very well and rinse with really hot water every day, but it keeps happening.

You could be allergic to the soap you are using. If you are washing and it gets inside your vagina, it may cause a slight vaginal infection. I suggest using Summers eve Feminin wash. It is soap free smells great, and gets the job done. I used to get infections all the time, and when I switched to that, it took care of it. If that doesnt work, I suggest going to an obgyn, to make sure its not something serious.

Usually a yeast infection has whitish discharge, and it is not just itchy, usually your vaginal skin is a little sore also. There is usually no odor with a yeast infection also. It may also be bacterial vaginosis. It causes a grayish discharge, and a fishy odor. So, if there is no smell, you could try monistat from the store to see if that clears it up. If there is a smell, you'll need to go see the doctor to get tested and possibly need a prescription.
