The Shy Guy

Question Posted Sunday January 25 2009, 10:27 pm

Hey, im 16f and in grade 11.
So, I have this friend in grade 12 that works in a town 15 minutes away from I live. She had given me her cell number a while back and so I decided I would text her to see what she was up to. Long story short, she didn't know who I was because she forgot my number, and gave the guy she works with my number to find out who I was. My friend did realize who I was eventually, but this guy is still texting me :)
He has been texting me for the last five days straight and i've been texting him back of course. He is the same age as me,and told me all about himself.Things like where he lives, what his favorite music is,where his favorite place to eat is,that he has had a few girlfriends, that he flirts when he texts me,he described what he looked like, told me he was a shy guy,and excetera excetera. I have told him lots about myself as well.
My friend knows him really well and said he is safe to date. She also said he is totally hitting on me,has a huge crush on me,and wouldn't stop asking her if I was cute :)
One day I told him it seemed strange to be texting someone that i've never seen before so often. So the next day, when I was at work he texted me and told me he was coming.I was like oh my gosh because he is the nicest guy ever and it seemed unreal.
Since he is a shy guy, i noticed him right away when he came in. he was wearing a hat and was sort of trying to hide his face, but he was really cute ;) I was busy at the till so I didn't have time to talk to him right then, and he left with a grin.
He is still texting me, and says he wants to hang out with me, but he has already cancelled a day we had planned to hang out.I told him I think he cancelled because he was too shy to come, and he said it was true. Now he says we can hang out together this Friday, but only if he can use his parents vehicle to pick me up. We are planning to watch a movie.
I am hoping he doesn't cancel out..I really want to hang out with him.I'm not worried if he doesn't want to date me,I just want to be friends (at least)
So,what are some signs that would tell me he really does like me? and how can I help him to have courage to not be shy if we get together? I don't want it to be awkward, you know? ... ;)

obviously, he thinks your cool. and would reaaally like to give it shot. but he cant, because of this shyness. make him know that you're harmless and that he shouldnt be worried around you. let him know that if he really wants to hang out with you, he needs to stick through with his plans. because its simply rediculous to even get your hopes up if not.

maybe after he spends some time with you, he'll feel a little more comfortable. maybe one day, you should surprise him at work. that way, there was nothing to plan, so theres nothing to cancel. just stop by and say hey. and that will make him all the more comfortable around you.

i hope it all works out great!
