TwentySomething answered Friday January 16 2009, 2:24 pm: Lazy eyes are usually caused by a mis-firing of messages from the brain to one of the eyes. There are two ways that doctors try to assist those with this problem. One is eye glasses, with a special prescription for the "lazy" eye often helps and there have been many benefits to exercising the "lazy" eye by wearing an eyepatch on the "good" eye and allowing the "lazy" one to compensate and get stronger. But I'm assuming you don't want to wear a patch to school so there are also eye drops, I forget the name of them, that dilate the pupil of the well eye and also allows the "lazy" one to compensate and gain acuity. Hope that helps! [ TwentySomething's advice column | Ask TwentySomething A Question ]
