LCL injury people only please!

Question Posted Tuesday December 23 2008, 1:56 pm

Hey guys, Thrsuday I was playing in a basketball game. I went to stop a pass and jump to hit the ball away. I came down and my knee wasn't bent, but it didn't make a noises. (i tore my ACL two years ago in the left knee, and it didn't feel like that) But when I was running, it just felt weird. So I got taken out, and I did some quick little test I remember from physical therapy, and it all seemed good, so I went back in. The next day we had another game, I went out and got a cheap little knee brace just incase. Well at the beginning of the game I went up for a lay up, and came down, and honestly I can't remember if I landed on it without my knee being bent or what. But my knee popped like three times, and I went down. I went to the hospital and he did test, by pushing on my knee to see if anything was giving. Well my ACL and MCL are fine, but he said my LCL gives a little and I'll be out a week to rest it. Well I don't my hospital, and I'm still scared its torn. My knee doesn't hurt, its my thigh. Right above my knee, its swollen and it hurts (i'm guessing from the swelling) I can straighten my knee, but to a point it hurts to bend it.

If anyone here has had a torn LCL please tell me if the thigh thing was going on with you. Thanks!!! oh btw I've looked up s/s of an LCL being torn but nohting has said anythinga bout your thigh hurting!

I'm sorry I can't do much, but I feel so bad. I've never done that, but from what I do know, you need to keep it elevated, ice it, and try taking some advil. I would try going to another doctor or perhaps your school's athletic trainer if there is one. Please don't try to play on it, you can do more harm than good.
