Handwriting.

Question Posted Sunday December 21 2008, 2:54 pm

My handwriting isn't the neatest. I would just like to define it, make it smoother and rounder..but also neater...so it doesn't look as scribbly.
What would be the best way to ''define'' my handwriting?

Thanks!

well always make sure you have a nicely sharpened pen or pencil. Decide how you want your Handwriting to look, it should probably reflect you personality. With sharper letters, pen works best for a writing utensil. For curvier, rounder letters, pencil is usually best.

Go to a store like Staples or an office supply store or something like target or walmart and buy a handwriting book for kids. It will seem kind of ridiculous purchasing a book for 4th graders but it will help you a LOT! I promise

honestly, practice.

what i would suggest is write out the alphabet in the EXACT handwriting that you want, and each day, write for 30 minutes non-stop about your day trying your best to follow the alphabet you laid out. don't worry about speed -- just precision.

after you can write in your desired handwriting NEATLY, then try to speed it up a little.

i have to say, i have pretty darn neat handwriting, but i don't write that fast at ALL. it's either slow and neat or fast and illegible (usually what i use for oral notes during class, then i go home and retype them).

so it's okay if you write slowly, as long as it's neat. just try to practice writing each day and DO NOT give up. don't make drastic changes. like do it one letter at a time. for example, i remember that i used to make my "e"'s round instead of flat and pointy and when i first witnessed someone write it differently, i immediately integrated it in to my writing. so try to do it a letter at time. maybe each day, say "okay, i'm going to define my 'a''s today" and just concentrate on that letter. and just make it cumulative (e.g., monday = a, tuesday = b, wednesday = integrate both a and b).

but honestly, PRACTICE is the only way! :)
