What are popular songs of the 60s? What are popular songs of the 70s?

Question Posted Saturday November 22 2008, 12:35 am

I want to make my mom a cd of old songs for her birthday that is coming up. I thought it would be super neat to get popular songs of the 60s and popular songs of the 70s put onto the cd for her to listen to in the car. I don't listen to 60s music and 70s music so I don't know the popular songs back then. I think my mom would really love to have a cd of 60s and 70s style music for her birthday.

Could someone please list some really popular songs of the 60s and 70s for me so I can put them on a CD for my mom's birthday?

I actually really like listening to older music, so I think I can help you out here. :)

The Eagles - Take It Easy
CCR - Spirit in the Sky
The Kinks - Lola
Three Dog Night - Summer in the City
The Turtles - So Happy Together
Blues Image - Ride Captain Ride
The Bangles - Walk Like an Egyptian
The Doobie Brothers - Listen to the Music
Don Mclean - American Pie
The Rolling Stones - Paint It Black
Sly & the Family Stones - Dance to the Music
Three Dog Night - Joy to the World
The Turtles - Turn, Turn, Turn

Also, there are so many Johnny Cash songs, as well as songs by the Beatles, that I could list, but you can imagine. :)

Not 100% sure (but fairly sure) these are all from the 60's and 70's, but they're all good oldies music, none the less.

Hope this helped. :)
